Art flourishes on many different canvases, and the art of B. Thomas comes to life in her sought after signature styling, braiding, and protective styling.
Among A-list clientele, her braiding topped off headline making looks such as Coachella 2019 show stoppers Halsey and Kanye West's Sunday Service Choir, Cardi B's dancers at the BET Awards and Grammy Awards, FKA Twigs at Camp Flog Gnaw and many more.
Rewnowned for her talent, grace, and efficiency, B. delivers a personal masterpeice for each and every client. "When I was a kid, I went from making lanyards and crocheting, to braiding hair," she explains. "It was just another art form I wanted to master. When I'm braiding, it's calming. It's like a Zen challenge to acheive consistency. It's a wonderful feeling."
As a child, the Los Angeles native watched her mom and aunt tend to their hair, soon developing her own fascination with braiding. From braiding her dolls' hair to taking on a salon asistant job in the city of Inglewood at 13 years old, B. has devoted countless hours to the craft.
She also developed her talents as a dancer. By the age for 15, she signed to the renowned Bloc Agency. She landed a spot in a Madonna music video before embarking on a six year whirlwind dancing tour for the Black Eyed Peas that culminated with a historic performance at the 2011 Super Bowl. She not only booked other gigs such as Step Up 3D, a Vitamin Water commercial, and projects with Shkira an Usher, but she also continued to braid in between.
During 2014, Thomas turned her attentions to hair styling full time. Among many highlights, she styled Rihanna's background dancers on the seminal "Bitch Better Have My Money" music video. B.'s celebrity clients span from Lil Nas X, FKA Twigs, Tracee Ellis Ross, SZA, and Avril Lavigne to Lisa Bonet and Rapsody. Her work has been published in magazine covers for CR Men, The Guardian, New York Times Magazine, Billboard, and High Snobiety and her advertising clients consist of Skims and Pattern Beauty.
Ultimately, B.'s journey enables her to style from a different perspectived. "I know how to make performers feel good, because I was one," she concludes. "I specialize in natural hair and have actually been in front of the camera too. I've got a different view that's informed by fine art, fashion, my time as a dancer, and all of these years braiding. I try to give everyone a well rounded experience."
B. Thomas resides in Los Angeles. Beyond braid artistry, she is most importantly a mom.
